Pyramidal Orchid

Previous Next

We invariably find pyramidal orchids at Kingley Vale, even at this time of year (end of July). They are one of the first "wild" natural history subjects that we tackle on the course. The students need to think about background, lighting quality and direction, and choice of a suitable aperture, among other things. Here I chose a dark background, but allowed some out-of-focus grass to support the base of the image.
