Yew bark

While walking through the yew wood at Kingley Vale, we noticed how the sun was grazing against the bark and bringing out its texture. Once we'd found a suitable subject we had to work quickly before a shadow from the other trees fell on the selected spot. Sharpness is critical in subjects like this so we set up tripods and focused carefully, stopping well down for depth of field.

Camera: Olympus OM4Ti; Lens: Zuiko 135mm macro at f22; Magnification: x0.3; Film: Provia 400F

The resolution, grain and colour saturation of the Provia 400F are excellent (but you can't really assess that from the screen images - you'll have to take my word for it) and good enough for an acceptable 12x16 Ilfochrome. Nevertheless, if I were shooting this again I would use Provia 100F or Velvia.
