We visited Arundel Wildfowl Trust reserve on a grey and overcast day - perfect conditions, as it happened, for photographing a white bird such as this. The soft lighting is necessary to retain detail in the feathers which would be lost in the higher contrast of sunlight. Two reflections were clearly going to be important parts of this picture. Firstly, of the duck itself, and I made sure that the bird was in the upper part of the picture to leave room for the reflection. Secondly, the reflection of the dark background vegetation has provided an almost black bacground against which the bird and its reflection stand out. I was able to make the most of these reflections by getting as low as possible to the duck's level. Location: Arundel Wildfowl Trust Camera: Olympus OM4Ti with Zuiko 350mm f2.8 lens.
